It’s a common complaint that the clothes in the shops never seem to be the ones you need for the weather outside, but at London Fashion Week designers are keen to fix that.

Instead of showcasing collections designed to be worn in six months’ time, many labels will present clothes that are available to buy as soon as the last model leaves the catwalk.

The Burberry show on Monday will launch the latest collection of 250 pieces in stores and online that evening. Britain’s biggest luxury brand is also combining its women’s and men’s lines for the first time. “The changes allow us to build a closer connection between our shows and the moment people can explore the collections themselves,” Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s chief creative officer, said.

Several looks from the Topshop Unique show tomorrow will be available on the same day. Front-rowers will be able to buy pieces at the Spitalfields show venue in a pop-up shop. In New York last week, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and Michael Kors unveiled collections customers could buy from the catwalk
